Former Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8 , where he stated that he was “confused” and “increasingly concerned,” about the “shifting explanations,” the U.S. President Trump offered for firing Comey over month ago, the National Public Radio writes.

As NPR reports, Trump initially explained that Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, but later said it was because of the Russia investigation. During the hearing, Comey said he was confused when he saw on television information that he was fired.
“The administration then chose to defame me, and more importantly the FBI” Comey said, by claiming the agency was “poorly led,” NPR reports. Comey said that “those were lies, plain and simple.” Former FBI director further said the FBI is honest, strong and the FBI is and always will be independent.”
As the Washington Post explains, Comey “sat grim-faced at a witness table before the Senate Intelligence Committee shortly after 10:00 a.m. as the committee chairman, Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), began the hearing.
The Senate Intelligence Committee yesterday published on its website Comey’s remarks. It is written account of the discussion former FBI director Comey had with President Trump. In his testimony Comey said that during a private dinner at the White House in January with Trump, he said to him:”I need loyalty, I expect loyalty.”
