Hospitals, companies and government agencies faced cyberextortion attack on Friday, the Associated Press reports. The latest cyber attack locked up computers and encrypted files looking for ransom. The AP says, “it was believed to the biggest attack of its kind ever recorded.” Malicious software used vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, supposedly identified by the National Security Agency, reportedly for its own intelligence-gathering purpose and it was later leaked to the internet. Russia’s country Interior Ministry confirmed it was struck. The attack targeted Britain’s national health service fell victim. Malicious software appeared in more than 60 countries, including the United States. The “ransomware,” freezes software with a message for payment demand.
