Protest in support for the unitary character of the Republic of Macedonia continued on May 12, as in previous more than 70 days, from the government to the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia. The protesters requested of the President Gjorgje Ivanov to hold to the promise for protecting the unitary character of the state. Bogdan Ilievski from the initiative said, “May 12, we are requesting of him not to forget the pledge he gave before three and before eight years to protect the unitary character and sovereignty of the Republic of Macedonia.” Ilievski stated that they request of him “on May 12, 2017, today or in the next days to repeat the pledge and would not give the mandate to those who are supporting Tirana’s platform.”
People chanted “election,” and repeated surname of the president in his support not to give the mandate to president of SDSM, Zoran Zaev to form a new government. Later, in the speech close to the Assembly, Bogdanovski said that Talat Xhaferi would hold plenary session for new government because he has no obligation to wait. Boris Damovski, one of the organizers said the indictment they are preparing it will be testimony for people’s suffering under the pressure of the political elites in the Republic of Macedonia, and international community.
