Red and Yellow Protest Marked 71 Days Fighting for Macedonia

Organizers of the initiative for the unitary character of the Republic of Macedonia and their supporters continued with their protest walks. For more than 70 days, people are gathering and walk against the latest political developments in Macedonia, where it is still unclear what Tirana’s platform could mean for the future government of the Republic of Macedonia. With new president of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi, voted in the aisle of the plenary hall in the Assembly, supported and greeted by foreign ambassadors in Macedonia, the outcome of the political crisis is still uncertain. Regardless, people who protest on the streets are reluctant to dismiss their cause and request on daily basis new election in the country, where people would cast their votes for programs that consist requirements of Tirana’s platform.

On tonight’s protest, Bogdan Ilievski pledged the initiative support to President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorgje Ivanov if he protects the Constitution. “We need to protect Constitution, you are last protection. We are appealing to you to continue, and until you are doing that, you will have support by citizens from the initiative.” Ilievski commented the way the voting happened in the Assembly for the speaker and said, “If this turn as a practice in this country, you can forget the Republic of Macedonia, we would not have it anymore.” Organizers announced that the way of fulfillment if their goals could have other forms, including civic disobedience.
