UK Prime Minister Requests Snap Election in June

Time: 12:43 p.m. CEST

The United Kingdom Prime minister Theresa May announced on April 18 plans for an early election on June 8 after last-year decision of U.K. to leave the European Union after referendum on the issue. May said Britain needed stability after the EU referendum. BBC.com write that May said, “The country is coming together but Westminster is not.” House of Commons should vote on the snap election on Wednesday as she would need support of Parliament for a vote before 2020. On March 30, May triggered official process of leaving EU.
