The first employment report since Donald Trump began his presidency “showed the U.S. labor market expanding at a healthy clip, though wage growth was slower than many expected,” the Washington Post reports. In the final weeks of the Obama administration, companies added 227,000 jobs in January, Department of Labor said on Friday. As the Post writes, Elise Gould, senior economist at the Economic Policy Institute, called the report, “solid.” Gould explained that is last jobs report of the Obama administration and we have seen more than six years of steady job growth.” The unemployment rate decreased to 4.8 percent as more people looked for jobs.
