Time: 11:00 p.m. CEST

President Barack Obama awarded the outgoing Vice President Joseph Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom on January 12 in a surprising move during the ceremony in the State Dining Room at the White House.

President Obama who choose Biden for the Vice President said he is “the best vice president America’s ever had,” and that is “a lion of American history.” As the National Public Radio reports, “the two have enjoyed an unusually close working relationship over the past eight years.”

Reactions on Twitter shows the wide support for the surprise move and for Biden, who choose not to participate in the U.S. presidential elections 2016, even though he considered to run.
