Political Parties Signed Codex for Fair and Democratic Elections

 Representatives and presidents of the political parties pose after signing the Codex for fair and democratic elections before Nikola Gruevski, president of VMRO-DPMNE signed the document due to late arrival to the ceremony of signing, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CEST in Skopje at the State Election Commission.

A day before the official beginning of the 20 days election campaign for the early general elections on December 11, 2016, presidents and representatives of political parties and coalitions that will participate in election signed the document and pledged for fair and democratic elections.

President of the State Election Commission of the Republic of Macedonia, Aleksandar Cicakovski opened the ceremony, in which the president of VMRO-DPMNE was absent. Cicakovski stated, “All participants in the elections with their activities are making the base for the democracy and contribute to the trust building in the electoral system of Republic of Macedonia,”

Then, the representatives of political parties and election coalitions signed the document, which traditionally is called codex for fair and democratic elections. A minute after the ceremony ended, the president of VMRO-DPMNE party Nikola Gruevski arrived at the State Election Commission and separately, but at the same table with other political representatives signed the document.

Ambassadors of United States, United Kingdom, Germany and representative of the Delegation of European Union in Macedonia monitored the signing of the document.

Macedonia will have early general elections on December 11, as agreed between four political subjects upon negotiations for the end of the political crisis in the country. In this year early elections 11 political subjects will try to persuade the voters in the country and possibly lead in the next four-year period.
