The State Department said on October 3 that it is “suspending its participation in bilateral channels with Russia,” concluded just weeks ago with an aim to make cessation of the hostilities in Syria. In a statement, the State Department says, “This is not a decision that was taken lightly.” The breaking news happened during the regular news briefing at the White House. The White House press secretary Josh Earnest said, “Everybody’s patience with Russia has run out.” Earnest explained, Russia lost its credibility after “a series of commitments without any indication they were committed to following them.” The decision happens after a period of bombings of medical facilities in Syria. Earnest says on October 3, that the White House is excluding any ground operation.
