President Obama Pledges $90-million to Laos

President Barack Obama visited Laos on Tuesday and became the first sitting U.S. president who visited the small communist Southeast Asian country. Obama as stated on the National Public Radio, “Promised to double the U.S. funding to help and educated residents on the dangers of the bombs that remain in the ground.”

Obama announced a $90-million U.S. commitment over three years and said, “Given our history here, I believe the United States has a moral obligation to help Laos heal.”
