A Taliban suicide attack near the defense ministry in Kabul killed at least 24 people on Monday, including a number of senior security officials, and wounded 91 others, officials said, as Reuters reports. Defense ministry spokesman Mohammad Radmanesh said two explosions one after another happened near the government buildings, market and main intersection. Those who rushed to help after the first explosion were caught in the second. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blasts that they said it killed 58 officers and commanders. Less than two weeks ago, deadly attack of gunmen to the American University in Kabul killed 13 people, on which Islamic State took responsibility. The militants reaffirmed their attacks to the Western-backed government after the death of their former leader, Mullah Akhtar Mansour.
