Two days before the start of the Democratic National Convention, Hillary Clinton decided to choose Virginia Senator Tim Kaine for her running mate. “I am thrilled to announce my running mate, @TimKaine a man who’s devoted his life to fighting,” Clinton said on Twitter.
CNN reports that minutes later, Kaine tweeted: “Just got off the phone with Hillary. I am honored to be her running mate. Can’t wait to hit the trail tomorrow in Miami!” Clinton and Kaine had first joint appearance at the Florida International University. Clinton’s choice, says CNN, ended a long search made in secret. Kaine is born in Minnesota and graduated at the University of Missouri. He went to Harvard law school and it was a missionary in Honduras.
Republican nominee for presidential race Donald Trump’s campaign in a statement labeled the Clinton’s choice as “corrupt Kaine,” CNN says.
