If you think the students at the “Ss.Cyril and Methodius” University are practicing democracy during the summer, it would be a wrong answer. Although, the setting at the hall of the Law Faculty in Skopje offers a glimpse of possible scenario for the practicing democracy and voting rights.
But, this is a real news event, which unfolds before the cameras and reporters of main media. The students face real and persisting issue of divisions how to practice the voting rights during the students elections for the body they are calling Student Parliament.
Even though, the voting process started at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at all faculties, which are belonging to this state university in Macedonia with longest tradition in education, the outcome of the election is uncertain. Members of the Student Plenum questioned the way of the voting and asked why the voting booths are missing from the voting places. The laws in the country do not define the way of the voting of the students for their representative bodies.
The video follows a student Ivana Tufegdzic, who is challenging the voting process. Here is the video of Thursday event.
