The Democrats in the House staged sit-in the House floor, demanding votes on gun bills.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid supports, but he hadn’t embraced a compromise gun control bill by a moderate Republican senator, supported by a lawmakers of both parties, the Associated Press reports. As the AP says, Maine Senator Susan Collins introduced her plan on Tuesday that could bar firearms sales to the 109,000 people on “the government’s no-fly list and people who can’t fly without intensive screening.”
Reid statement came in the moments when the Democrats in the House staged sit-in the House floor, demanding votes on gun bills. The Democrats said they would not leave until House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., “allowed a vote on measures to curb it and chanted over and over “No bill, no break!” the USA Today publishes. Regardless C-SPAN carries TV camera feeds from the House chamber, “the network couldn’t broadcast footage of the sit-in,” the USA Today says. (here’s why)
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says, the AP writes, he backs giving Collins’ bill a vote, but it’s unclear if the Republican-led chamber would approve it.
