President Obama Excludes Links Between Orlando Gunman and Foreign Groups

After Monday’s intelligence briefing with the Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey, Department of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, National Counterterrorism Center, Nicholas Rasmussen, Deputy Attorney General Sally Yets, President Barack Obama excluded the option that attacker in Orlando, 29-year-old Omar Mateen was directed by foreign groups, though he pledged allegiance to Islamic State group. The President says it appears Orlando’s shooter was inspired by extremist information from the internet.

Matten on early Sunday entered a nightclub in Orlando and killed 5o people and injured 53 before died in the exchange of fires with the police officers who tried to enter to the club. Mateen used assault rifle, he is a U.S. citizen, but his family is from Afghanistan and expressed disagreements with the homosexuality.

Orlando shooting was dominant issue during the Monday’s briefing at the White House with press secretary Josh Earnest said he would leave Federal Bureau of Investigation to give details of the investigation. “The investigation is barely 24-hours old and there is more that need to be learned and as FBI learns that information they are going to share as much as possible.”Earnest argued that the President is strong in banning assault weapons, the ban was in place, the President thinks its need to be reinstituted.”

In the attack of the nightclub in Orlando, Matten used assault weapon, which usually is consider to be a weapon of war.

Earnest explained more on the terminology the White House uses to address the shooting. “I think the president has been quite clear why we choose the language we use to define our enemy. And we have defined the enemy, our adversary in this war as a terrorist organization that perverts Islam,” Earnest said to the reporters.

The press secretary also said, “They want to further this narrative they represent Islam in a war against the West. That narrative is false. It is empty. It is a myth. In fact, most of the victims of these terrorist organizations are in fact innocent Muslim men, women and children.”
