Singer Prince Dies At 57

Prince who domineered music scene in decades with his creative freedom , died Tursday at age 57, media report. “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57,” said his publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, as CNN reports.

Police said they were investigating a death at the Paisley Park studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota. As CNN reports, they responded to a medical call and found the singer “unresponsive in an elevator,” Carver County Sherif Jim Olson said. On social media, people shared the grief for the death of a musician who did not spare the energy to create and perform music.

Some are saying the icon’s death “is what it sounds like when doves cry,” a reference to his monster hit from 1984. Fans rushed to record stores to pick up vinyl and other Prince memorabilia, CNN said. Prince was an icon of the 1980s, while his film “Purple Rain” made a pick in 1984 and decades after with a story of aspiring musician. Many reacted after Prince’s death, including President Barack Obama who shared his thoughts on social media, saying that only few artists have influenced the sound and trajectory of popular music distinctly.
