Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 90th birthday, the New York Times published with details that the occasion will be celebrated with pageantry, warm beer, longer pub hours, equestrian displays and appearance by the actress Helen Mirren, the Times says. Elizabeth kicked off birthday celebrations on Wednesday at a Royal Mail delivery center, where she and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh watched workers sorting mail. On birthday, she will light the first of more than 900 celebratory beacons. President Barack Obama will offer the queen birthday wishes at Windsor Castle on Friday. Queen Elizabeth has been served by 12 prime ministers, starting with Churchill and on September 9 edged out Queen Victoria at the longest-reigning monarch in British history, the Times said.
