Death Toll Raises After Earthquake in Ecuador

At least 233 people died after strong earthquake hit Ecuador, as the Ecuador President Rafael Correa said on Sunday. It is the most powerful earthquake in decades and the rescue operations are underway. About 10,000 troops and 3, 500 police are deployed in the affected areas. The strong 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Ecuador on Saturday and neighboring Colombia felt the tremors. Ecuador’s Vice President Jorge Glas said, “We have information that there are injured people who are trapped under rubble in different districts and we are getting ready to rescue them.”
