South Korea Says North Fired Short-Range Missile

Seoul officials said that North Korea fired a short-range missile into the sea on Friday, the Associated Press reports. Without giving further details, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said, “the surface-to-air missile fired from an eastern coastal area flew into waters off the North’s east coast.” North Korea perceives the ongoing military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea, as “an invasion rehearsal.” The drills, which will run until late April, are the biggest, and as AP says, “come after North Korea’s nuclear test and long-range rocket test earlier this year.
