President Barack Obama holds a news conference at Rancho Mirage, California after a U.S.-ASEAN summit. “When ASEAN speaks with clear, unified voice, he can help advance security, opportunity and human dignity,” Obama said during the news conference at Sunnylands. “That commitment is and would remain strong and endure. With our strategic partnership, we have a framework to guide our ties for decades to come,” Obama explained.
As Obama said, “Here in Sunnylands we agree on key principles, including that ASEAN would continue to be central, in fact, indispensable to peace, prosperity and progress in the Asia Pacific.”
Obama and Southeast Asian leaders worked during a two-day summit to profound commercial ties and to provide “a united front on maritime disputes with Beijing,” Reuters earlier said.
