The World Health Organization on Monday stated that the Zika virus and microcephaly is “a public health emergency of international concern.” The WHO tweeted the statement of WHO’s Director General Margaret Chan on their twitter account @WHO. This international organization said that it has activated incident management system and that new fund finances initial response.
Mosquitoes spread the Zika virus, and the outbreak started last May in Brazil. Since then, about 20 countries in Latin America face the issue of this virus, which could contain possible link to microcephaly, situation when babies have small heads. But, the WHO still says that the health emergency of international concern is to prove if the cases of microcephaly are related to Zika virus.
